..sCIRAWHAT??

Sono solo uno snipista, e un capitano di flotta come centinaia, che prova a fare il suo..

Ho appena ricevuto un invito molto interessante al Memorial Carlos del Castillo Trophy, programmato per il 24-25 Agosto, nella splendida Gijòn (Spagna).

Sfortunatamente non ci sarò, perchè proprio in quei giorni (23-25 agosto) il mio circolo, sul Lago di Bracciano (Italia), ospiterà il Campionato Europeo Master Snipe.. per essere chiaro: non sono un master, sono solo uno che sta cercando di dare una mano all'organizzazione della regata.. e di fronte a questa sovrapposizione (e a tutte le altre sovrapposizioni in calendario in quei giorni) ho qualche seria difficoltà a comprendere cosa diavolo stia facendo la SCIRA?!?!

Intendo: in questo momento è molto difficile trovare le risorse ed i Circoli interessati ad organizzare regate snipe (fortunati/sfortunati non abbiamo grossi sponsor, né sussidi dalla federazione vela, almeno non in Italia), nel mentre tutte le SCIRA Nazionali stanno fronteggiando numeri di barche iscritte in caduta e il prossimo Mondiale Assoluto Snipe a Rio de Janeiro sarà solo l'ennesima regata internazionale snipe a non registrare un "tutto esaurito".. a Rio!!

In questo tipo di scenario dobbiamo pure fronteggiare 'sta specie di sovrapposizione di calendario suicida (l'ennesima!).

Sono fermamente convinto che sia cruciale avere in calendario quante più regate snipe sia possibile avere, MA in questo momento è ancora più cruciale evitare qualsiasi tipo di sovrapposizione nella programmazione delle regate, almeno su scala continentale.

Penso che chiunque possa comprendere che la cooperazione/il coordinamento, oggi, sia un bene e una risorsa per tutti, ho serie difficoltà a credere che qualcuno sia così scemo da credere di gestire l'attuale casino "da solo".. ma sbaglio, evidentemente.. così posso solo sperare che la SCIRA sia (ancora) in grado di gestire il necessario "sforzo di coordinamento", altrimenti non vedo come potremo passare attraverso questa tempesta e, in definitiva, quale sia l'utilità della SCIRA.

Ci si vede a Bracciano, o a Gijòn, o in Olanda o ovunque ci sia una regata snipe! L'Europa è un grande e splendido continente, finché lo si considera tale.

I'm just a snipe-racer, and a Fleet Captain like hundreds, trying to do his own..

So I received right now a really interesting invitation to the Memorial Carlos del Castillo Trophy, scheduled on 24th-25th August, in the amazing Gijòn (Spain).

Unfortunately I won't be there, cause during exactly those days (23-25th August) my club, on Lake Bracciano (Italy), will host the Snipe European Master Championship.. to be clear: I'm not a master, I'm just trying to give some help to the race management.. and in front of this over-lap (and all the others schedule over-laps in those days!!) I really have some trouble to understand what the hell SCIRA is doing?!?

I mean: in this moment it's quite difficult find resources and Clubs to arrange snipe races (luckily/unluckily we have no big sponsorships or sailing federations feeds, not in Italy at least), meanwhile all SCIRAs are facing falling registered-boats numbers and the next Snipe World Championship in Rio will be yet another international snipe regatta with no "sold out".. in Rio!!

In this kind of scenario we have to face this sort of self-killing over-lapping schedule (yet another!).

I strongly believe that is crucial have all the possible snipe regattas we can arrange, BUT in this moment it's pretty more crucial avoid any kind of over-lap in racing schedule, at continental level at least.

I think that everyone can understand that cooperation/coordination, today, is good and worthwhile for everyone, I really have big troubles to think that someone could be so fool to believe to manage this mess "alone".. but I'm guessing wrong evidently.. So I can only hope that SCIRA is (still) on charge to manage this needful "coordination enforcement", otherwise I can't see how we'll pass through this storm and finally which is the SCIRA utility.

See you in Bracciano, or in Gijòn, or in Netherland or wherever will be a snipe regatta! Europe is a great and awesome continent, as long as you consider it in that way.
