..hUGE nEWS iN sNIPE rULES!!!

Great news by ISAF.

Snipe could be next two-persons-dinghy at Olympics!

In this moment ISAF is working on a submission by SCIRA.

This submission includes several “tech changes” to snipe as we know, here a quick list of these “modifies”:

• hull+mast+boom+rudder all carbon made;
• center board will be replaced with a fixed carbon keel, max. draft became 2.5meters, with terminal lead bulb included (They ‘re working on a canting keel solution, but it’s soon now to know more about it!);
• mast 3 meters higher;
• new full-batte main-sail;
• completely liberalization of sails materials (as carbon and pbo) and techs (as 3DL and tape-drive!);
• for light winds will be available a new furling genoa at 150% of J, fixed on a carbon bow-sprit (max two meters over the stem!)
• for downwind a top-mast asy-spi, fixe on carbon bow-sprit;

All these “news” might heavy increase snipe performances... but snipe costs too (around 5-6 time more expensive then now!!)


All these “tech news” and many others will be operative next september.

After september all “actual” snipes will be considered out of measurement, and they’ll not allowed to SCIRA Races (from World Champ. to Regional Regattas..)
